As a Motion Design 3 class project, I had the privilege to work with a group of five other students to develop two videos for the local Cincinnati psychedelic rock band Lemon Sky. We produced a documentary style video for the band, as well as a music video for their song “Bad Bad”.
For the music video, we planned to tell the story of a psychedelic trip gone bad, trying to capture moments of boredom, followed by elation and euphoria, followed by confusion and finally terror. For most of us in the group, it was one of the first times we explored visual storytelling through shot footage, so we took the opportunity to explore creatively with techniques like camera angles, aspect ratio, and different editing effects to be able to portray the emotion and feeling that we wanted to.
For this video, I acted as a writer for the concept of the video and one of two cinematographers during the shoot. This was my very first time behind a camera during a video shoot, and the moment that I feel in love in videography.
